SUKKUR: A man shot dead his wife and critically wounded his young daughter when she tried to save her mother in Fateh Mohammad Lashari village within the limits of Tangwani police station in Kandhkot district on Tuesday. Police officials said that Muqeem Lashari killed his wife Sadori Khatoon and wounded his 10-year-old daughter Shamshan when she came before her mother to save her. The suspect managed to escape from the area by firing into the air, they said. Police shifted the dead body and the wounded to the nearest hospital in Tangwani from where the girl was referred to a Sukkur hospital due to her precarious condition. Sources said that post mortem on the body was not carried out at the Tangwani hospital due to unavailability of a lady doctor, so the body had to be shifted to Kandhkot civil hospital. It was later handed over to heirs after completion of medico-legal formalities, said the bereaved family. The sources said that police were reluctant to give motive behind the murder. The suspect might have shot dead his wife in the name of honour. Police had not made any arrest nor registered any case yet, they said. Six men kidnapped in Kashmore Bandits abducted six persons, including a child, from different parts of the district during last 48 hours despite police claims of relentless actions against dacoits and gangsters. According to families of the hostages, Vikram Kumar, Asif Dashti, Ghulam Hussain Dashti, Mohammad Panah Khoso, Ahmed Din Soomro and Jahanzeb Soomro were the latest kidnap victims. Last night, armed gangsters abducted Asif Dasti and Ghulam Hussain Dasti from a fish farm located in Dakhan Bungalow in Kashmore district. Local media persons said the ongoing operation by Kashmore police against the outlaws for the recovery of hostages had completely failed. Police had failed to control crimes and restore peace in the area, they said. They said that results of such police operations were confined only to official files and press releases and they had not produced any satisfactory results on ground as the gangsters continued to commit crimes without fear of police. They said that nine persons had been kidnaped from different areas across Kashmore district and families of the hostages had staged protests and demanded authorities get their loved ones freed unharmed from the clutches of dacoits, otherwise they would hold a demonstration on Sindh-Punjab border.
