LAHORE: The Punjab government has posted Professor of Cardiology at Fatima Jinnah Medical University Prof Bilal Sheikhu Mohyuddin as executive director of the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC). According to a notification issued here on Wednesday, Prof Bilal was posted as PIC ED, relieving Prof Anjum Jalal of the additional charge of the post-in-question. The appointment of new head of the PIC was made on the approval of CM Maryam Nawaz. An official said the CM had called Prof Mohyuddin only for an interview from the panel senior medics recommended to her for the posting of one of them. He said a high-powered search committee, comprising two health ministers, health secretary, serving vice chancellors of medical universities and some retired principals, had interviewed two senior doctors – PIC Professor of Cardiology Dr Moazzam Naqvi and Prof Bilal Mohiuddin – in August for the said position. Prof Jalal had refused to contest for the post following his differences over some institute’s matters with the chairman of PIC Board of Management, he said.
