Five killed as rival groups trade fire in Batkhela

MALAKAND: Five people were killed and another suffered injuries when rival groups clashed over a pathway dispute in Batkhela area here on Tuesday. Officials at the Levies post in Batkhela said that the clash occurred in Bahadurabad area. As a result, they said Iftikhar Hussain, Bilal and Manan from one group and Abdul Kabir Khan and Rashid from the other were killed on the spot. The injured was identified as Mohammad Rahim Khan. A contingent of Malakand Levies reached the spot, cordoned off the area to arrest the people involved in the clash. However, no arrests were made till late in the evening. The Levies personnel took the bodies and the injured to the District Headquarters Hospital, Batkhela. The bodies were handed over to relatives after doctors conducted post-mortem on them. No group lodged a case till filing of this report on Tuesday evening.
