Drug peddler jailed for 14 years

TAXILA: A special court for the Control of Narcotic Substances (CNS) in Taxila on Monday sentenced a woman drug peddler to fourteen years in jail besides imposing a fine of Rs500,000. The woman was arrested while selling narcotics around educational institutions May 23 this year. Police also recovered 2.3kg heroin worth from her possession. The convict was arrested under section 9-C CNSA, 1997 in the limits of Wah Cantonment police station. During proceedings, the convict confessed to having supplied drugs to various educational institutions. The judge of the special CNS court pronounced the judgment after recording statements of witnesses and final arguments from both sides. A teenage girl was abducted in the limits of Taxila police station on Monday, the police sources said. Alam Sher reported to police that his 17-year-old daughter along with his grandmother went to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for treatmentfrom where she was abducted by unknown persons. Police have registered an abduction case and launched a search for the girl.
