KARACHI: The World Culture Festival organised by the Arts Council of Pakistan will commence from Thursday (today) and conclude on Oct 30. This was said by Arts Council’s President Ahmed Shah at a press conference on Wednesday afternoon. More than 450 artists representing 40 countries will put their talent on display in more than 100 cultural pieces. Some of the countries include Palestine, the UAE, India, Germany, South Korea, Bangladesh, Rwanda and Switzerland. Apart from activities related to performing arts, exhibits from fine art will also be on view. In all, 40 theatrical acts, 55 musical performances, 50 dance recitals, 20 workshops, 10 talks and five fine art exhibitions. Over 450 artists from 40 countries will perform at the mega event “We want the world to know that we are the custodian of three civilisations: Harappa, Taxila and Mohenjo Daro,” said Mr Shah. Writer Anwar Maqsood said: “We all know what’s happening, Islamabad, Punjab and Balochistan; Sindh is the only province where a culture festival is being organised.” Provincial Culture Minister Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah said that the government of Sindh was cooperating with the council for the event. The festival will show a positive image of Pakistan, he added.
