TOBA TEK SINGH: District police continued raids at the houses of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf activists all over the district on Friday night and Saturday to prevent them from going to Lahore to participate in the public meeting held on Saturday. A defeated PTI candidate from Rajana PP-121, Sardar Khawar Sher Gadhi, and several others were arrested on motorway M-3 interchange at Rajana while their vehicles were also impounded when they were proceeding to Lahore. At Gojra, journalist Mian Tahir Saleem, reporter of Dunya News channel, was arrested although he told the police that he had nothing to do with PTI. An SIC MNA from Gojra NA-105, Usama Hamza, told the media that Moongi Bangla police raided the house of PTI office-bearer Ashfaq Majeed at Chak 160 GB Kaleki late on Friday night. Although Ashfaq Majeed was not found, the police ransacked his house and took away valuable items. Former PTI MPA Saeed Ahmad Saeedi claimed that his cousin, former councilor Muhammad Tahir, was arrested at Chak 301 GB. His nephew, Mian Adeem Sattar, and activist Zeeshan Azam Randhawa were also arrested. In Kamalia, PTI leader Arsalan Ahmad Insari was detained as well. GUJRAT: On the special instructions of PTI Central President Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, a convoy of party workers from Gujrat and Mandi Bahauddin participated in the Lahore rally on Saturday. The workers from the region were led by Begum Sumaira Elahi, MPA Baasima Riaz Chaudhry and Begum Kausar Parveen. The workers carried placards and banners with pictures of Imran Khan, Chaudhry Parvez Elahi and Moonis Elahi. From the main road, Begum Sumaira Elahi and Baasima Chaudhry reached the jalsa place by foot along with the workers. On reaching the meeting place, Begum Sumaira and Baasima Chaudhry remained on the container along with the central leadership until the end of the meeting.
