Ahmed moved from a small town to the city in search of a job to support his family. He applied for a position at a big firm and, luckily, he was called for an interview. Ahmed answered all the questions with confidence and showed a promising personality. He impressed the employer. The employer congratulated him and said, “Ahmed, you seem to be worth giving a chance to. So please proceed to the HR department and make sure your bike is in good condition, as you’ll need to travel a lot to meet customers.” Ahmed was a bit taken aback, “But sir, I don’t have a bike.” The manager became silent for a moment and then said, “You know this is a sales job that needs the person to travel in the city. How can you do that without a bike?” Ahmed had no answer, so he got up and left the place, deep in thought about what to do next. He had little money, enough to feed him for a few days. He didn’t want to return to his village without a job, he was confident he could work something out. While walking around the city, Ahmed came across a large vegetable market. An idea sparked in his mind. With the little money he had, he bought fresh vegetables and began selling them door to door, walking from house to house. By the end of the day, he had sold all his vegetables and made a profit. This experience gave Ahmed the confidence to continue. Every morning, he would go to the wholesale vegetable market, buy fresh produce, and sell it door to door. He worked hard every day, and within a year, Ahmed was able to open his own shop. In the following years, he expanded his business into wholesale and became a successful merchant in the city. It so happened that the city’s merchant society held a meeting, and Ahmed was invited as an example of success for both new and established businessmen. While attending the meeting, Ahmed crossed paths with someone familiar, it was the manager who had interviewed him at the big firm when he first came to the city. Recognising Ahmed, the manager was impressed by his success and said, “You’ve made it big! I see you’re a successful businessman now. I knew it, but the bike was mandatory for the position you had come to me for.” Ahmed smiled and replied, “Yes, I remember. But I never bought a bike.” Surprised, the manager asked, “Why not? You could have easily afforded one in a few months and come back to me.” Ahmed smiled and said, “If I had bought a bike, I might have settled for the job. But not having one pushed me to dream bigger and work harder. Without that bike, I found my own path to success.” “That challenge led me to build something far greater than I ever imagined. Life may not always give us what we want, but sometimes, it’s a hidden blessing. Hard work and persistence can open doors to opportunities we never knew existed,” Ahmed explained.
