SAHIWAL: Two young football players were injured in a shooting by a rival group in Ahmed Bhagela village on Monday afternoon. The incident stems from a decade-long blood feud between the families of Muhammad Javed and Ihsan Danish, which has previously claimed several lives. The injured, Adeel and Saifur Rehman, were en route to Bunga Bahawal on a motorcycle for a friendly football match when they were ambushed by five armed men. Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers opened indiscriminate fire, leaving the cousins severely injured. The assailants fled the scene, and the victims were shifted to Sahiwal Teaching Hospital by Rescue 1122. The family identified the attackers as Javed Abbas, Goga, Bahawal Sher, Shafqat Bhagela, and Fakhar Abbas. Harrapa Police registered a case under PPC sections 324, 148, and 149, and two suspects were arrested. Three people, including a woman, were killed and 12 others injured in separate accidents near Chichawatni and Sahiwal. In the first accident near Ravi Toll Plaza on the Kamaliya-Chichawatni Road, a collision involving motorcycles, a truck, and tractor trolleys occurred due to heavy fog. Rescue 1122 reported that 45-year-old Kalsoom died on the spot and 22-year-old Aleem succumbed to his injuries en route to Chichawatni Tehsil Headquarters Hospital. Seven others were taken to the hospital, with two in critical condition suffering head injuries. In another incident, a 35-year-old unidentified man was crushed by a goods train in Sharif Colony early in the morning. The man, believed to be a wanderer and an addict, was frequently seen near railway tracks. The body was taken to Sahiwal Teaching Hospital for a postmortem examination.
