Policeman shot dead in Hangu

KOHAT: Unknown assailants shot dead a policeman in Hangu, while a notorious proclaimed offender was arrested in injured condition after an exchange of fire with the police in Jarma area of Kohat on Wednesday. The policeman, Qudratullah, was attacked by unknown motorcyclists near his house. Soon after the incident, the police launched a search operation to track down the attackers. Meanwhile, a proclaimed offender was arrested with a Kalashnikov, two hand grenades and cartridges while fleeing in a van in Tangi Banda area of Jarma here. A police official said that after seeing a raiding party he opened fire, forcing the cops to return the fire, leaving the outlaw injured critically. He was shifted to a hospital. The official said that the outlaw was wanted in several heinous crimes.
