Suspect held for kite-flying material online business

GUJRANWALA: People’s Colony police arrested a suspect involved in the online sale of kite-flying material on Wednesday, recovering 1,500 kites and 200 spools of string. A case has been registered against the suspect. City Police Officer (CPO) Muhammad Ayaz Saleem warned that kite flying and its associated trade pose serious threat to public safety and vowed that offenders would face a strict action. The police arrested suspect Mubashir Jameel during routine patrolling based on a tip-off. The suspect confessed during interrogation to sourcing kites and string from other districts through online platforms and selling them across Gujranwala. Legal proceedings are underway. FIR: Wazirabad’s additional sessions judge ordered on Wednesday that a case be registered against the deputy superintendent of police (DSP) and the station house officer (SHO) of Ahmed Nagar police for conducting illegal raids and arrests. The court directed the FIR to be submitted within two days. Petitioners Fakhar Ijaz Baryar and Ahsan Ijaz Baryar, members of the District Bar Association of Wazirabad, accused DSP Hashim Gujar and SHO Bilal Butt of leading a raid on their residence in Dilawar Cheema. They alleged the raid, carried out by 30 uniformed and 15-20 plain-clothed officers, was conducted without legal justification. The petitioners claimed the officers vandalised their property, broke into the house, and harassed women and children. They further alleged the raiding party stole valuables, including Rs50,000 in cash, a mobile phone worth Rs100,000, a laptop and an iPad. Security cameras and DVRs from their home and a nearby grocery store were also confiscated. The court, presided over by Judge Syed Faheem Shahid, ordered the filing of an FIR against the accused officers and required its submission within two days.
