RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) has demanded an extension in the last date for submission of tax returns. In a statement, the RCCI said the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) system (Iris) had slowed down due to heavy filings. Due to the closure of banks and other related institutions on Saturdays and Sundays, taxpayers are facing difficulties in obtaining bank accounts and other documents, it said, adding that system glitch and slowness complaints were coming from members and traders. It stated that due to the protest by a political party in other cities, including Rawalpindi and Islamabad, on Friday, taxpayers were facing difficulties in collecting necessary documents related to tax returns. “We demand that the date of submission of tax returns be extended by one month, the RCCI statement said.
