Nisar takes lead on first day

LAHORE: Nisar Hussain posted an excellent card of three-under-par 69 to take lead in the Senior Gross event on the opening day of the 43rd Punjab Open Golf Championship here at the Royal Palm Golf Course on Wednesday. With three birdies, Nisar did not lose any stroke to record an impressive three-under par. Mohammad Tariq (71) of Islamabad was two strokes behind Nisar. Other notable contenders in this category are Irfan Mehmood (73) of Rawalpindi Golf Club while Mohammad Akram (Gymkhana), Karam Hussain (PAF) and Naseer Khan (Peshawar) are bunched together at 75. In the junior professionals’ category, Mohammed Sahil of Peshawar compiled an impressive score of gross 70, two under par. He is followed by Rehan Babar (75) of Lahore Garrison while Shahbaz Ali (Garrison) is at 77. In the senior amateur segment, Brig Omer Ijaz of Rawalpindi and Abdul Rauf of Royal Palm are placed together at gross 77. Bushra Fatima of Lahore Garrison
