ISLAMABAD: While it is feared that lawyers and political parties may hold protests against the under-consideration constitutional amendment, Islamabad police have sealed most of the roads leading to Constitution Avenue. The road from Polyclinic to China Chowk and Fazal-i-Haq Road, which leads to D-Chowk, has been sealed by placing containers. Moreover, the roads from Polyclinic to Jinnah Avenue and from Nadra Chowk to Constitution Avenue have also been closed. According to a press release, following the directives of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, SP Industrial Area Zone Ali Raza visited various checkpoints and briefed the officers about performance of their duties in view of the current situation and told to be alert during checking besides keeping a watchful eye on suspicious persons. He said the police were utilising all available resources to maintain law and order and ensure protection of life and property of citizens.
