Police arrest over 50 suspects in capital

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad police claimed to have arrested at least 41 proclaimed offenders and 11 suspected criminals during their week-long drive in the federal capital. According to a spokesperson for the capital police, operations were conducted in the Sihala, Koral and Lohi Bher areas where 15 stolen motorcycles, cash, gold ornaments, mobile phones, police uniforms and other items were recovered. “The police also took 186 suspects into custody and shifted them to the relevant police stations for further verification,” he said. They also recovered 18 pistols and three rifles, along with ammunition, he added. He said the police searched 1,243 establishments, 5,491 suspected individuals and 230 suspicious vehicles during the drive. “Sperate search operations were conducted in Sahazad Town, Sangjani, Sumbal and Tarnol areas,” the spokesperson said. Deputy Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Raza said the capital police were ensuring law and order in Islamabad to protect the life and property of the people. He requested the people to inform the area police about suspicious activities.
