Eight societies summoned to explain ‘Wapda tag’

LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has summoned the administration of eight private housing societies on Nov 14 for using the name of Wapda illegally. “The FIA has summoned the management of eight housing societies -- Wapda Employees Cooperative Housing Society, Kasur, Wapda Employees Cooperative Housing Society, Sheikhupura, Wapda Employees Cooperative Housing Society, Faisalabad, Wapda Employees Cooperative Housing Society, Gujranwala, Wapda Employees Cooperative Housing Society, Sargodha, Wapda Employees Cooperative Society, Multan, Wapda City Faisalabad and Wapda City Gujranwala -- to its main office on Temple Road on Nov 14,” a spokesperson said on Saturday. He said these housing societies were not authorised to use the name of Wapda. “These societies allegedly used Wapda’s name and logo without permission in their names. They will be asked to explain why they used the Wapda name without authorisation,” he said and added legal action would be taken against those who sold plots using the name of government institutions. The FIA has initiated the investigation following a complaint received from Wapda.
