OKARA: The Renala Sadar police have registered a case against 23 Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) activists, including 13 nominated people, for blocking GT Road while carrying party flags and placards with slogans against the government and various departments. According to the first information report (FIR), during routine anti-crime patrolling near the railway level crossing 14/1AL, police received information about a protest near Adda Akhtarabad. The protesters had blocked GT Road, causing inconvenience to traffic. Police called reinforcements, but the protesters escaped on bikes and other vehicles upon the arrival of law enforcement. Among the 13 identified protesters are Ishtiaq Ahmad, Zahid Bhatti, Arshad, Mustafa, Abdul Ghaffar, Rashid Kamboh, Rana Zaki, Asad Chishti, Aziz Gajana, Jamil Chan Shah, Ghaffar Shah and Adnan, along with 10 unidentified people. A case was registered under sections 341, 148 and 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code and section 16 of the Maintenance of Public Order 1960. The placards carried slogans, such as ‘Release Imran Khan’ and ‘Goli Kyun Chali’. On Saturday and Sunday, three traffic accidents on GT Road and nearby areas left 12 people injured. On Saturday night, a commuter bus collided with a motorcycle rickshaw and a trolley near Adda Tabrook, injuring four people. Two were shifted to Combined Military Hospital of Okara Cantonment, while Muhammad Aslam and Abdullah were transported to DHQ City Hospital by Rescue 1122. Also, dense fog caused a pile up collision between a mini-truck, a tractor trolley and a bus at Pul Jurian on GT Road, injuring six people, including Sakina Bibi, Yasir, Javid, Jamil, Haider and Mehwish (wife of Nasir). After initial treatment, all were taken to Renala THQ Hospital and DHQ City Hospital. On Dipalpur-Okara Road near Pir di Hatti, an overtaking wagon overturned, injuring the driver. He was shifted to DHQ South City Hospital for treatment.
