Five die, 16 hurt in fog-related road crash

BAHAWALNAGAR: At least five persons died and 16 others injured, nine of them critically, when a bus collided head-on with a passenger van on Bahawalnagar-Haroonabad Road near Adda Gajyani on Sunday, in a fog-related accident. As per Rescue 1122 officials, the speeding bus collided with the van due to poor visibility caused by dense fog in the area, resulting in the death of three people on the spot. They say that the two others died while they were being shifted to hospital, along with 16 other injured persons. The officials say that nine of the injured persons were said to be in critical condition, while six of them have been referred to the Bahawal Victoria Hospital, Bahawalpur. A minor boy died, while his sister suffered critical injuries, when the roof of their dilapidated house collapsed on Saturday at Chak Sarkari, Madrassa. As per Madrassa police, Manzoor was repairing his house’s roof, made of logs and bamboos, when it suddenly collapsed. As a result, his nine-year-old son Hasnain and his 13-year-old daughter Rabia Bibi were injured. They were shifted to Chishtian THQ Hospital, where the boy succumbed to his injuries.
