NAWABSHAH: A 50-year-old man was shot dead and his brother and a cousin were wounded in two separate attacks carried out by a group of armed men in the Bandhi area of this district on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Raza Mohammad Jamali, said to be a senior journalist. The assailants opened fire on him outside his home, where his cousin, Junaid Jamali, a policeman, was also present and suffered bullet wounds. The assailants then drove to a shop located along Bandhi-Moro link road and shot at Raza’s brother, Sharif Jamali. A shutterdown strike was observed in Bandhi town over the bloodshed and a large number of Jamalis took to the street and held a protest demonstration at the nearby section of the Mehran Highway, blocking the road for a few hours. According to the Bandhi police, the fresh attack might have been carried out by some members of the Korai community who were Raza’s rivals in an old blood feud. They said Raza’s another brother and a son were shot dead allegedly by the Korai rivals about five months ago. The Korai’s allege that Raza’s nephew, Lal Khan Jamali, had killed their close relative, Niaz Korai, some three years ago.
