SWAT: The district administration took a firm step to protect public safety by outlawing the use of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in public service vehicles and the unlawful decanting of LPG cylinders throughout the district. In response to mounting concerns over the installation of illegal decanting points in the area, which present significant safety hazards and may result in deadly occurrences, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shahzad Mehboob made the decision during a meeting of relevant departments. The DC underlined that these unlawful decanting stations, which were frequently found on the property of LPG distributors or run by unregistered cylinder makers, had grown to be a serious risk. There is a significant chance of mishaps because the public transporters regularly fill LPG cylinders that are mounted on public transportation vehicles including buses, vans, wagons, and even school transportation. The meeting was informed that violators of this order would face strict legal action under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). The DC urged citizens to report any illegal decanting activity to the authorities to ensure compliance with the directive and safeguard public safety. The district administration’s larger initiatives to stop mishaps and save lives include this preventative action. The order was greeted by the locals as an important step in guaranteeing the community’s well-being. Campaigns to raise public awareness about the risks of illicit LPG decanting and the significance of following safety standards are anticipated to come next.
