CHARSADDA: Qaumi Watan Party chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has asked the federal government to avoid ‘settling score’ with PTI and focus on improving the precarious security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Talking to reporters in Sherpao area here on Saturday, he claimed that the government had no interest in curbing the growing incidents of terrorism and arresting the worsening law and order, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces. He called upon all the stakeholders, including the political leadership, the government and the establishment, to overcome challenges through talks. On this occasion, QWP provincial chairman Sikander Khan Sherpao and other leaders of the party were also present. Aftab Sherpao demanded a full investigation into the mortar shell firing on civilians in Tirah area of Khyber district, which claimed lives of two children and several others were injured. The QWP chief welcomed the apex committee’s decision to engage the police in ending militancy in the tribal districts as the public trusted the local police more than the army. Sherpao also urged Pakistan and Afghanistan to bridge the trust deficit for establishing cordial relations between them. He said while the federal government was busy in tweaking the Constitution to control judiciary, the provincial government of PTI was utilising all its resources to hold rallies to push for release of party founder Imran Khan from prison. He said attacks on Chinese nationals working on various projects in the country had concerned the government in Beijing. “The precarious situation has even forced the Chinese government to issue a travel advisory to its citizens travelling in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces.” Mr Sherpao said law and order KP, especially in its southern districts, was extremely poor. He said terrorism, inflation, bad law and order and unemployment had stressed the people out. He said the victory of Donald Trump in the US elections won’t influence Pakistan’s internal situation.
