Man killed as mortar shell hits house in South Waziristan

SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: A man was killed and his wife and daughter were injured when a mortar shell allegedly hit their house in Ladha tehsil of Upper South Waziristan district, while a government school in Azam Warsak area of Lower South Waziristan was partially damaged in an explosion in the wee hours on Monday. A mortar shell fired from unknown location hit a house in Seega area, killing its owner, identified as Qurban Ali, and injuring his wife and a 10-year-old daughter. The injured were shifted to the Civil Hospital, Dera Ismail Khan, in critical condition. Upper South Waziristan deputy commissioner Saleem Jan told on contact that a case into the mortar shell incident had been registered. He confirmed that one person was killed and two members of the family suffered injuries in the incident. In yet another incident, building of government high school in Azam Warsak area of Birmal tehsil of Lower South Waziristan was partially damaged when an explosive device planted by unknown miscreants went off. However, no casualty was reported. The police registered a case against unknown miscreants and started investigation.
