RAWALPINDI: In view of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s planned protest on Saturday in Rawalpindi, the leaves of police personnel have been cancelled as the law enforcement will remain on high alert in the garrison city. Extra police including 20 reserves of Punjab Constabulary (PC) from Farooqabad with anti-riot tools have also been called to assist the Rawalpindi police in maintaining law and order during PTI’s planned protest. Besides, the city administration will close all entry points in the garrison city from Saturday by placing containers. In a bid to ensure security in the city, the City Police Officer Syed Khalid Hamdani has said that all sort of leaves, except for emergency, have been cancelled. The CPO has directed all officials and officers on leave to report to their place of posting in the district on Saturday at 6 am. However, in case of non-compliance, and absence from the law and order duty, the police personnel will be facing dismissal from service, the CPO said in his order. SSP Operation and Investigation and all divisional SPs and police department heads have been directed to ensure compliance with the orders. Besides , a comprehensive security plan has also been chalked out as riot police will be deployed in sensitive places to ensure peace in the city. Earlier on Thursday night, the police conducted raids on the residences of PTI local leaders. However, no arrests have been made by the police.
