PESHAWAR: Pakistan Peoples Party has asked the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to focus its attention
PESHAWAR: Pakistan Peoples Party has asked the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to focus its attention on improving the law and order situation amid the growing terrorist acts in different part of the province. PPP provincial president Mohammad Ali Shah Bacha made the demand while addressing a news conference at the Peshawar Press Club on Tuesday. He said that the law and order situation in the province was getting worse over the past several weeks, but the provincial government was unable to take effective measures to control militant attacks. He said the Kurram and Swat incidents had shown that the provincial government had no concern for ensuring security of lives and properties of people. “We will raise our voice for the establishment of peace in the province,” the PPP leader said, adding PPP workers would start protest demonstrations against the provincial government from next week. Mr Bacha said PPP workers would hold demonstrations outside the provincial assembly and the Chief Minister’s House to make the government realise its responsibilities. Flanked by MPA Ahmad Karim Kundi, former provincial minister Ziaullah Afridi and other party leaders, Mr Bacha alleged that the provincial government was using official resources for holding political rallies and public meetings. “If you want to free your party chief Imran Khan from jail, then use your own resources instead of misusing the mandate given to you by the people for the development of the province,” he said in an apparent reference to the rallies the KP government led by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur is taking out to push for the release of the party’s founding chairman. Mr Bacha claimed the chief minister was least bothered to pay heed towards the key issues of the province. Referring to political statements made by the chief minister, the PPP leader said Mr Gandapur wanted to spread chaos in the country. He said Governor Faisal Kaim Kundi had offered to work with the CM for the uplift of the province, but Mr Gandapur responded very negatively. The PPP provincial chief alleged that corruption was rampant in the province, and the government had failed to ensure good governance despite tall claims. “PPP has always talked about democracy, and it does not want governor’s rule in the province. However, the CM should feel his national duties as a public representative and spend the public money on welfare of people,” Mr Bacha said. He said PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari would visit Peshawar next week to address workers.
