MARDAN: The officials of Federal Investigations Agency (FIA) here on Tuesday claimed to have arrested two human traffickers. FIA official Ghazi Amanullah Khan told this scribe that a complaint was filed by Faqir Mohammad, Zahid Mohammad, Saeedullah and Ghulam Mohammad, all residents of Shankar area of Katlang tehsil that some human traffickers took their relatives including Waqas, Ibrar, Rabnawz, Jehangir, Inam, Tahir, Wajid, Hassan and Ashfaq to Iran for onward smuggling to Europe through illegal routes. He said that those intending emigrants were held hostages, brutally tortured in a safe house in a city of Iran near Turkish border and Rs400,000 was being demanded from each of them as ransom to release them. The official said that an FIR under Prevention of Smuggling of Migrants Act, 2018, 14 Foreigners Act, 1946, and 109 PPC was registered against human traffickers Rehmatullah, Imran and Irshad. During the course of investigation, he claimed, they arrested Rehmatullah and Imran. He said that all the hostages were released from the custody of agents without paying them any amount. The official said that five out of nine intending emigrants were brought back to Pakistan and were handed over to their family members while the remaining four were taken into custody by relevant Iranian officials who would soon be deported to their homeland after completion of legal procedure. He said that the arrested members of human trafficker gang were being investigated to arrest their accomplices.
