KARACHI: Three passengers, suspected of having mpox after they landed at the Jinnah International Airport Karachi from Saudi Arabia, on Sunday tested negative for the disease. The health department said that two of the three male passengers — aged between 25 and 59 — lived in Naushahro Feroze, while the third one in Tando Allahyar. “They are stable and have tested negative for mpox,” said a doctor at the Sindh Infectious Diseases Hospital and Research Centre where they were admitted for treatment. Since last month, six cases of mpox have been confirmed in the country. However, no case has so far been detected in Sindh. The World Health Organisation (WHO) had recently declared the outbreak of the disease as a public health emergency of international concern after the new variant of the virus, Clade 1b, was identified.
