RAWALPINDI: The bailiff of an additional sessions judge conducted a raid on Civil Lines police station and recovered two activists of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday. The bailiff’s raid was conducted in the wake of a petition filed by the families of two political activists, Usman alias Tiger and Faisal Yousaf, in the court of Additional Sessions Judge Farhat Jabin Rana for their recovery. Hasnain Murtaza Sumbal advocate appeared before the court and pleaded that the Civil Lines police had detained Usman and Faisal Yousaf illegally. The court deputed a bailiff for the recovery of both persons from the Civil Lines police custody and later produced them before the court of the additional sessions judge. Later, the station house officer (SHO) of Civil Lines police station appeared before the court. The court expressed displeasure over the illegal detention of the two and also directed the city police officer to register an FIR against the SHO Civil Lines and submit a report in the court. On the other hand, police are continuing raids in different parts of the district and have detained at least 10 PTI workers. Following PTI’s protest on Saturday, police had already registered six cases against over 126 PTI leaders and workers on various charges including violating ban on protests, raising slogans against government and institutions, damaging police vehicles, snatching weapons and injuring some police officials. Two cases were registered with the City police station and one each with the New Town, Waris Khan, R.A. Bazaar and Civil Lines police stations.
