SWABI: A portion of a government primary school in Swabi district headquarters has been converted into the office of Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), depriving students of adequate learning opportunities. The decision was opposed by the locals and parents of students here on Friday, saying that the school and the BISP office could not operate in the same building in which over 300 students received education. Abdul Muneem, former naib-nazim of Swabi Khas union council said that he had received information that the permission for setting up the BISP office in the school was given by the district education officer on directives of the district administration. The Mukha contest held in Ghani Chathra village, Gadoon Amazai belt concluded on Thursday night. Speaking on the occasion, Advisor to Chief Minister on Sports Syed Fakhar Jahan, who was the chief guest of concluding ceremony, said that government was determined to promote local games. MPA Rangaiz Khan, various political leaders and workers of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and Mukha lovers from across the district attended the final contest. He said that Mukha competition would soon be held at the provincial level in which players from different areas of Swabi, Buner and Mardan would participate in the event. “We are providing opportunity to the players, aiming to promote centuries old games of Mukha,” he said.
