Several injured in clash between Mirjat clansmen

MIRPURKHAS: A number of villagers, including women, were injured when a group of Mirjat clan attacked houses of the rival group in Lehno Khan Mirjat village, Digri taluka, on Saturday. Following the incident, the victims held a demonstration outside Digri police station. They demanded protection from the attackers and registration of FIR against them. The protesters told media persons that influential persons of their village, including Mehboob Ali Mirjat, Kamal Mirjat, Ramzan Mirjat, Nihal and Ashraf Mirjat among others had attacked them with sticks and axes over a petty issue. They said a number of villagers, including women, were injured while a shepherd, Ahsan Jat, was brutally beaten by them. The injured were rushed to Digri taluka hospital where after first aid Ahsan was referred to Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences Hyderabad due to his serious condition. The victims demanded the DIG and SSP Mirpurkhas to take immediate notice of the matter, ensure registration of their FIR and arrest the suspects involved. They also demanded protection from the suspects. On the assurance of action against the suspects, the protesters ended their demonstration and dispersed peacefully after two hours.
