PESHAWAR: Fazal Moqeem Khan, Abdul Jalil Jan and Shehryar Khan were elected unopposed here the other day as president, senior vice-president and vice-president, respectively, of Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry for 2024-26 term. SCCI’s election commission announced this during a meeting held at the Chamber House. Members of the election commission, including Malik Niaz Ahmad, Abdul Hakim Shinwari and Zarak Khan, were present. The commission said as no nomination papers were submitted against Mr Moqeem, Mr Jan and Mr Shehryar, they were elected unopposed. The newly-elected office-bearers will take charge of their respective offices on Oct 1. It is to be mentioned here that a 20-member executive council of SCCI has already been elected, but the seats of president, senior vice-president and vice-president were still vacant. Under the Trade Organisation Rules 2013, members of the newly-elected executive committee approved names of Fazal Moqeem, Jalil Jan and Shehryar for the slots of president, senior vice-president and vice-president for the next term. There was no election for the slot of general secretary as Muqtasid Ahsan is already working on this post. SCCI’s Corporate Group members, who recently won the election, include Abbas Fuad Azeem, Adnan Nasir, Aftab Iqbal, Fazal Moqeem Khan, Hassan Zahideen, Ashfaq Ahmad, Junaid Altaf, Sabir Ahmad Bangash, Zaheer Sajjad and Ziaul Haq Sarhadi. The Associate Group members are Abdul Jalil Jan, Abdul Naseer, Gul Zaman, Mohammad Nadeem, Mujeebur Rehman, Saddam Hussain, Saifullah Khan, Shamsur Rehman, Shehryar Khan and Sultan Mohammad. Similarly, Aafia Walayat and Shahida Parveen were elected as the chamber’s executive committee members on two women reserved seats. Mohammad Sajjad has already been elected as member of the SCCI’s executive committee from Bannu Town Association.
