KARACHI: To provide cheaper bread to people the Government is accelerating the pace of setting up “Nan” manufacturing plants in the country. Eight plants — four in Karachi and four in Lahore — will be set up in phases. The Government has allocated a sum of Rs 1.25 crore for the project during the current financial year. The cost of a nan weighing two chattaks will range between 12 and 15 paisa, it is learnt. [Meanwhile, as reported by a correspondent from Karachi,] the Third Tripartite Labour Conference will be held towards the end of November this year, the Federal Labour Minister, Mr Mohammad Hanif, said in an interview. … He said that the theme of the conference would be “Productivity — to emphasise the importance of increased production for the welfare of the workers and the overall progress … of the country.” The … conference would also review the progress on various decisions taken at the last conference. Rana Hanif said that 1973-74 could be termed as the year of consolidation of previous gains and further strengthening of the various institutions … created under the Labour Reforms.
