MUZAFFARGARH: A seven-year-old boy was allegedly tortured by some suspects over suspicion of theft in Langrwah area of Alipur tehsil, some 120 kilometres away from the city. Reports said the suspects tied Muhammad Nasir with ropes, held him by his feet and forced him to apologise for alleged theft. They laughed at the boy’s cries and recorded a video, which was later circulated on social media. After the video went viral, District Police Officer (DPO) Syed Hasnain Haider took immediate action, directing the Kundai police to register a case and arrest the perpetrators. The police registered a case on the complaint of boy’s mother Sughran Mai and arrested the suspects. Sources said Nasir was suspected of theft by Mulazim Hussain and his accomplices. The men captured the child and subjected him to torture, making a video of the incident as the boy pleaded for mercy. Despite his cries, the suspects continued to laugh and mock him. According to the first information report filed by Sughran, she was on her way to a local shop with her son when Mulazim Hussain, Rafiq, and six others abducted the child and began torturing him. The video shows the boy weeping and begging for mercy, but the men ignored his pleas and continued the inhumane treatment, injuring him severely. Following the video’s circulation, the Kundai police registered a case under sections 363, 355, 342, 148 and 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code and arrested all suspects. Two youths drowned while fishing in the Seetpur section of the Chenab on Wednesday. Locals managed to pull one of them from the water immediately, while the search for the other continues with the help of rescue teams and divers. The incident occurred approximately 100 kilometers from the city. Both youths were fishing in the river when they were swept away by the water current. One was rescued by local villagers on the spot, but the other remained missing.
