OF late, we have been witnessing little children standing like a statue at traffic signals and intersections. They are dressed up as mascots with cheap chemical paint smeared on their faces. The sight is pitiful. Their handlers must be watching them from a distance as these children stand still without moving a muscle for hours. It is a clear violation of children’s rights, and can have a negative effect on their health. Unfortunately, this kind of exploitation is not limited to Karachi, as it can be seen in other cities as well. It is imperative that the relevant bodies take prompt action to save these children from this hazardous ‘job’ and put all their handlers behind the bars.
