RAWALPINDI: The city traffic police have released a traffic plan for Eid Miladun Nabi procession being taken out on Peshawar Road near Chur Chowk on Friday (tomorrow). As part of the traffic plan, a total of 143 traffic officers and officials including four DSPs, 25 senior traffic wardens, 114 traffic wardens and assistance of Rawalpindi traffic police will perform special duties. With the help of district police, vehicles will be parked at a distance of 500 meters from the procession venue. Police spokesman said the traffic police would divert traffic on alternative routes and will keep Dar Barshah Pyara Road, Allahabad Road, Ghazi Road, Ashiana Chowk Mohammadabad to Progressive School Turn closed to traffic. After Asr prayer, the traffic from Peshawar to Sadr will be diverted to IJP Road towards Mehrabad. The traffic going from Sadr to Peshawar will be able to move to Peshawar by using the road in the opposite direction from Rafi Mall U-turn (the road coming from Mehrabad to Sadr). Misrial Road, Jaba Pali to Chur Chowk will be closed to traffic while the traffic going from Bhata Chowk to Chur Chowk will be diverted to Range Chowk towards Qasim Market Manzil via Range Road. In case of heavy traffic, more diversions will be announced step by step as per the need. In the second phase, the traffic will be diverted to Range Road towards Qasim Market to Bhata Chowk Golra via Shaley Valley, Misrial Road, said the spokesman. Chief Traffic Officer Beenish Fatima has issued instructions to the traffic police to make the best traffic arrangements for the convenience of road users on the occasion of Eid Miladun Nabi procession.
