LAKKI MARWAT: Local traders have asked the provincial government and local administration to take notice of excessive power outages in city areas and to overcome the water shortage and other civic problems. Speaking at a khuli kutcheri, convened by Assistant Commissioner Yasir Nazir under the chief minister’s public service agenda here on Friday, they said the business community had been facing with the acute shortage of clean water for a long time and they had to buy it by spending a considerable amount on regular basis. “The municipal body should prepare a master plan for water supply lines to urban areas and install water points in bazaars and markets so the businessmen could get water for drinking and other purposes without having difficulties,” they demanded. They said that their businesses were on the verge of collapse due to continuous and daylong power outages. “We pay taxes to the government and we deserve to be provided with all basic civic amenities,” the traders stressed. They also complained of poor hygienic conditions and inadequate arrangements for disposal of garbage from the city’s commercial areas. The traders demanded urgent repair of dilapidatedroads and pavements and asked the district administration to deploy traffic wardens at Saeedkhel Mor, Michenkhel Adda and other busy places in Mela Mandi Bazaar. The assistant commissioner assured the business community of resolution of their issues. He directed the municipal authorities to ensure provision of clean water in the city’s bazaars and markets and removal of garbage on daily basis. He said that municipal sanitary workers would clean bazaars and other urban areas, besides the district administration would approach quarters concerned for repair and maintenance of roads. Mr Nazir said that the issues raised by traders would be forwarded to departments concerned with the direction to ensure early resolution with intimation to the district administration.
