Girl dies, nine injured in accident

TOBA TEK SINGH: A girl died and nine others were injured critically in an accident on Jaranwala-Lahore Road near Chak 534-GB in Jaranwala tehsil of Faisalabad on Sunday. Rescue 1122 report said a dumper truck hit a motorcycle-rickshaw. As a result, the girl, identified as Maafia Razzaq (17), who was travelling in the three-wheeler died instantly while nine others were injured. The injured were identified as Mashghool Azhar (18), Sabir Ali (35), Imran Nazar (30), Haseeb Gulzar (14), Ali Raza (10), Nasreen Bibi (50), Maryam Bibi (60), Ali Haider (22) and Asad Liaqat (22). They were shifted to the Jaranwala Tehsil Headquarters Hospital. Meanwhile, three members of a family were critically burnt in a kitchen fire near Chungi No 9 in Madina Town of Faisalabad. Rescue 1122 said the fire was caused by gas leakage and it was extinguished by the firefighters who shifted the injured to the burn unit of Allied Hospital. They were identified as Muhammad Azam (44), Naseer Ahmad (41) and Tahir Ali (45). In another incident, two motorcycle riders died after a mini-truck hit their bike near Chak Mananwala Bus Stop on the Sheikhupura Road at Faisalabad. The deceased were identified as Muhammad Ijaz (38) and Riasat Ali (50). MURDER: A man turned out to be the killer of his young wife at Tariq Colony of Tandlianwala. Body of 26-year-old Sobia, wife of Muhammad Hammad, was recovered buried inside the house. According to the initial statement of the suspect, a clerk in a government school, when he came home from work, he found his wife dead on the bed and her gold jewelry was missing. However, Mamukanjan police arrested a neighbour, Mudassar, Bhatti, who was declared innocent and released after three days. They arrested Hammad on Saturday who confessed to committing the murder. He said they used to fight frequently as they did not have children so he strangled her. According to him, there is no other accomplice involved in the murder but the complainant, Muhammad Arif, an uncle of Sobia, told the media an aunt of Hammad was his accomplice as she wanted to marry her daughter with Hammad after killing Sobia. A suspect was killed in an alleged encounter with Sahianwala, Chak Jhumra police in Faisalabad. Police claimed that the suspects had set up a barrier near Chak Ransool to rob people. On seeing police they ran away. They were chased and an exchange of firing occurred between outlaws and police. When firing stopped, police found a suspect, Sanaullah, injured while his accomplices had fled. He was shifted to Chak Jhumra THQ hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Police claimed he was involved in a number of robberies and he was hit by the bullets of his own accomplices. A man committed suicide in Rehmat Town locality of Gojra. Reports said Muhammad Khalid (50), quarreled with his brothers over some domestic dispute and took poison. He was shifted to Gojra THQ hospital. The doctors referred him to Faisalabad Allied Hospital where he expired. A young man was kidnapped at Chak 357-JB of Gojra tehsil. Complainant Mujahid Abbas claimed in his FIR registered by Gojra Saddar police that his son, Arsalan Mujahid (25), was at home when four unidentified persons came by a car. They knocked at his door and when Arsalan went out, they bundled him into their car and fled. Dolphin Police arrested four persons of Mianwali involved in different crimes and recovered from their vehicle illegal arms, including two Kalashnikovs, a pistol and 334 bullets along with Rs578,000 cash. They were handed over to Khurrianwala police. The suspects were identified as Najeebullah, Kaleemullah, Khurram Shahzad and Munawar Hussain. Renowned Naat Khawan Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Bilal Chishti died after a brief illness at Millat Colony of Jhang. Scores of people attended his funeral prayers at Malloana Mor graveyard on Sunday.
