LAHORE: Public transport fares have been slashed in Punjab up to Rs190 following a reduction in petroleum prices by the federal government, says Information Minister Azma Bokhari. She said on Wednesday that it is fifth cut in the public transport fares after the government decreased petroleum prices. “The biggest fare cut of Rs190 has been implemented on the Lahore-Karachi route. Punjab is the only province where public transport fares are reduced whenever petrol and diesel prices dip. Passengers have started receiving the relief after the [petroleum] price reductions,” she said and added that a Rs50 cut has been introduced for the Lahore-Peshawar route and a Rs20 for Lahore-Rawalpindi route.
