FIA arrests two education ministry employees

RAWALPINDI: The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Anti-Corruption Circle Islamabad detained two former employees of the Ministry of Education involved in misappropriation of funds. A spokesman for the FIA said that the Anti-Corruption Circle Islamabad rounded up two suspects involved in corruption. The arrested accused were former employees of the Ministry of Education, said the spokesman. One was teh Chief Finance Officer while the other was appointed as Chief Internal Auditor, he said. The accused misappropriated funds worth more than Rs20 million which were released to more than 318 ghost employees, said the spokesman. The accused also obtained the membership of the Islamabad Club illegally, said the spokesman. A case has been registered against the accused and investigation has been started.
