LAHORE: An accountability court on Thursday granted one-day physical remand of former senator Waqar Ahmad Khan to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in a billions of rupees scam of Pak Arab Housing Society. A NAB team presented Waqar before the court following his arrest the other day. A prosecutor requested the court for physical remand of the former senator, stating that investigation was required from the suspect. He said the suspect previously sought time to hand over his property to the NAB. Waqar also affirmed in court that he was willing to transfer his property to the NAB. The prosecutor alleged that Waqar along with his brother, Ammar Ahmed Khan, committed fraud worth billions of rupees with people by denying them plots despite receiving money. He said the society defrauded the public at large by selling files more than the available plots. He stated that Pak-Arab Society Phase-II was also not an approved project by the Lahore Development Authority. He revealed that there are hundreds of victims associated with the Pak Arab Housing Society scam. Judge Nadeem Gulzar allowed the NAB one-day physical remand of the suspect and directed it to produce him again on Friday (today).
