PESHAWAR: Peshawar district and sessions judge Inamullah Khan Wazir has termed the process servers and bailiffs as backbone of the judicial system, and emphasised the use of modern technology for streamlining the process serving system. He was addressing a ceremony held at the district and sessions court here the other day to distribute mobile phones among process servers and bailiffs for official use. The district judge was accompanied by senior civil judge (judicial) Hamid Kamal and senior civil judge (administration) Imranullah. According to a press release issued by the spokesperson of the district judiciary, the computerisation of the process serving system was being implemented in two phases. In the first phase mobile phones are being provided to all field process servers and bailiffs, enabling real-time tracking of their locations. This will facilitate the timely service of summons at specified locations, addressing the grievances of litigants, the release said. In the second phase, the process servers’ mobile phones will be equipped with an e-service app, enabling them to promptly serve summons in the field, supported by audio-visual evidence, thereby saving time and enhancing efficiency. During the event, the judges highlighted the significance of the initiative, stating that the process serving agency was integral to the judicial system. They said that until now, there had been no mechanism to monitor the performance of process servers in the field.
