POLITICAL appointments on key positions may not always align with the qualifications and expertise required for effective gove-rnance. Given the circumstances Pakistan has found itself in, a foreign minister with a strong foundation in diplomacy and international law would significantly benefit the country’s strategic interests. At this pivotal moment, Pakistan faces a complex landscape that demands strategic agility. The re-election of Donald Trump adds an extra layer of uncertainty because of potential shifts in foreign policy that may directly impact Pakistan’s priorities, including the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Indeed, navigating this intricate web of international relations is crucial to securing Pakistan’s strategic and economic interests on the global stage. A more well-versed foreign minister will enhance Pakistan’s ability to communicate its foreign policy and manage diplomatic relations more effectively. Pakistan surely needs a full-time foreign minister appo-inted on the basis of field experience.
