Nadir moves into ITF junior tennis semis

ISLAMABAD: Maintaining his winning streak, Pakistan’s youngster Nadir Mirza defeated Teetawat of Tahiland to move into the semi-finals of the ITF Pakistan J30 Ali Embroidery World Junior Tennis Championship here at the PTF Complex on Thursday. Nadir overcame his opponent 6-1, 3-6, 6-1. Another Pakistan player Talha Khan also qualified for the last-four stage beating South Korea’s Park Dohyun 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 while Talha’s compatriot Hamza Roman lost to Chinese Xiuyuan Guo 6-2, 6-2. Meanwhile, both the Pakistan pairs won their respective men’s doubles semi-finals. The Haider Ali Rizwan-Abubakar Talha duo defeated Aahil Khalil of Sri Lanka and Germany’s Louis Eliah Kense 6-4, 6-3. While Bilal Asim and Ahmed Nael Qureshi beat bt China’s Xiuyuan Guo and Ho Jun Park of South Korea 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 in the other semi-final. In the girls singles quarter-finals, Karolina Ligai of Kazakhstan outclassed South Korea’s Chaerin Lee 6-1, 6-3; Sri Lanka’s Dinara De Silva outplayed Aaraa Aasaal Azim (Maldives) 6-2, 6-1; Korea’s So Yuna routed compatriot bt Hayoon Kim 6-2, 6-1 while Yeon Joo Cha prevailed over A Hyun 1-6, 6-4, 6-0 in another all-Korea match. In the girls doubles semi-finals, Koreans Yeon Joo Cha and So Yuna beat the Thai pair of Paweenon Nulsuri and Paramee Tadakew 6-4, 6-3 while Japanese players Haruhi Katsube and Hinata Wada defeated Aaraa Aasaal Azim of the Maldives and Pakistan’s Amna Ali Qayum 7-5, 6-1.
