BAJAUR: The much-awaited asphalt work on six-kilometre Umary-Sawai Road in War Mamond tehsil was completed here the other day. “Blacktopping of the road, which was inaugurated by then MNA Gul Zafar Khan in October 2021, has been completed,” PTI MPA Dr Hamidur Rehman said in a statement. He said he had fulfilled his election promise of blacktopping the road. “I wished to complete the road project at the earliest but the delay in release of funds stalled the project for years,” the statement quoted the MPA as saying. Mr Rehman extended his apology to the people for not completing the project on time. He said the road would ensure fast communication facility to the residents of War Mamond tehsil. The residents of War Mamond, the native region of former MNA Gul Zafar Khan and MPA Dr Hamidur Rehman, had held several protest demonstrations against the prolonged delay in completion of the project. They, however, expressed pleasure over the completion of the road. The residents, including elders, youth and political activists, demanded of MPA Hamidur Rehman to also launch asphalt work on the seven-kilometre Umary-Laghari Road in Lowi Mamond tehsil.
