RAHIM YAR KHAN: A locomotive with two wagons of a goods train derailed at Feroza Railway Station, 67km from here, on Saturday morning. According to a source in Pakistan Railways, a goods train, Qila Sattar Shah Container Up, was going to Lahore from Karachi. When it was approaching the Feroza Railway Station, the brakes of its locomotive failed and train started derailing from the main track. Seeing the situation, the pointsman immediately changed the point and converted the train to the loop line. Due to high speed and emergency conversion on loop line, the train after overshoot, crossed the sand dune and its locomotive with two ZBFC wagons loaded with containers derailed. However, at the time of the accident, there were no passenger trains on both up and down tracks. Later, a relief train from Multan was dispatched for restoration of derailed goods train. A railway official said the derailed train would be operational till night. The rail traffic on the main track would remain operational smoothly.
