TORONTO: Karachi-born journalist Michael D’Souza was recently honoured by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) by inducted him into its Hall of Fame. D’Souza, who retired from the CBC as a Network Assignment Producer in 2016, had a storied 30-year career, where he distinguished himself as a senior producer, foreign editor and a senior writer at many of the Canadian public broadcaster’s flagship programmes, both on radio and television. D’Souza left Pakistan for Canada in 1970 after graduating from St. Patrick’s High School in Saddar. He still occasionally visits Karachi, as he has family here. The CBC News Hall of Fame was established to honour individuals who have ‘demonstrated a lasting impact on the CBC and Canadian journalism’. Since 2016, the programme has received nominations for over 100 candidates. Now in its tenth year, D’Souza joins a select group of only ten other journalists – one of them a former governor general of Canada – to have received this honour.
