LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Tuesday sought replies from the inspector general of police (IGP) and the capital city police officer (CCPO) on a contempt petition by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Lahore chapter President Imtiaz Sheikh. A lawyer for the petitioner argued that the police furnished false information to the court and did not present accurate details of the cases registered against his client. He further claimed that the petitioner was arrested in cases previously registered against him and the court was misled. The lawyer said misleading the court and failing to provide correct details amounts to contempt of court. He asked the court to initiate contempt proceedings against the Punjab IGP and the Lahore CCPO. Justice Shehram Sarwar Chaudhry issued notices to the respondents and directed them to submit their replies by the next hearing.
