KARACHI: A teenage girl and her father were injured in a road accident when a dumper (loaded truck) hit their motorcycle at UP Mor in North Karachi on Thursday morning, according to police. Central SSP Zeeshan Shafiq Siddiqi said the girl was on her way to school with her father when the dumper hit them. As a result, Nabeeha, 17, and her father, Moin, sustained injuries and were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment. Police rushed to the scene after receiving the report, detained the driver, Mohammed Ashraf, and impounded the dumper. Officials stated that the girl suffered serious leg injuries. A man was shot at and wounded by suspected robbers in Gulshan-i-Iqbal on Thursday. Aziz Bhatti police SHO Saeed Ahmed said Mohammed Rafiq, 55, had withdrawn cash from a private bank near Hassan Square. While leaving on his motorcycle, he was intercepted by armed pillion riders who snatched the cash. When he resisted, the robbers shot him and fled with the stolen money. Rafiq sustained a bullet injury to his leg and was shifted to a private hospital on Stadium Road, where his condition was reported to be stable. The exact amount of stolen cash will be confirmed once the complainant provides a statement to the police. A police officer visited him at the hospital, but he was in a state of shock and unable to give a statement for lodging an FIR. Investigations are ongoing.
