A state paranoid

THE world is moving ahead with 5G and even 6G internet connectivity, but, in Pakistan, we seem to have regressed from 4G back to 3G and even 2G. It is difficult to understand why the state has become so paranoid of its own people. In today’s world, entire professions and markets rely on the internet. By shutting down websites and social media platforms in reaction to the actions of a few indivi-duals, the government is causing economic losses worth billions to the country. Taking loans from abroad and continuing to cause losses internally is hardly a sane approach to national progress. The government has to use some baseline wisdom and stop pushing the country further into darkness, making recovery even more difficult. The state must seriously reflect on these issues. Meanwhile, cellular service providers are depriving people of billions of rupees every day through overpriced packages. This will only create more tension and anger among the public, leading to social and societal problems. It is imperative to address these critical issues and work towards facilitating the life of the ordinary people of whom there is not shortage in the country.
