One dies, 14 hurt as bus overturns

SARGODHA: A passenger died and 14 other suffered injuries after a speeding Bannu-bound bus overturned while overtaking a dumper near Mitha Masoom bypass on Wednesday night. Reports said the bus on its way from Faisalabad to Bannu overturned while overtaking the dumper, resulting in the instant death of one Ahmad and injuries to 14 passengers, including a seven-year-old boy and a woman. The injured identified as Rani Bibi of Sargodha, Anwar Khan of Jhang, Zain Asad of Bannu, Shazia Bibi of Sargodha, Ishaq of Khushab, Ahad Ayaz of Bannu, Shoaib Khan of Bannu, Sadiq Mushtaq of Bannu, of Joharabad. Naveed, Sultan of Mianwali, Abdul Samad of Waziristan, Kashif of Mianwali, Habibullah and Gul Jan of Luky Marwat were shifted to hospital. : The University of Sargodha’s department of Islamic studies organised an Islamic Cultural Festival. The event was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas, Vice Chancellor University of Sargodha along with Khwaja Yasir Qayyum, President Sargodha Chamber of Commerce and Khawar Nadeem, President Anjuman-i-Tajran, while Prof Dr. Farhat Naseem Alvi, Chairperson Department of Islamic Studies, other faculty members and a number of students were also present there. The festival featured vibrant stalls displaying a variety of Islamic cultural elements, including calligraphy, traditional attire, Islamic art and books highlighting Islamic history and teachings. Students creatively showcased artifacts representing Islamic heritage, such as models of historical mosques, replicas of Islamic architecture and visual presentations of cultural diversity in Muslim societies. Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas appreciated the creativity and dedication of the students. Addressing the event, he said the festival reflects the rich heritage of Islam and provides an excellent platform for students to learn, explore, and showcase their talents. Such events foster a deeper understanding of our roots and values, he remarked. Dr. Farhat Naseem Alvi also addressed the gathering, emphasising the significance of Islamic culture in contemporary times. She lauded the students’ efforts in bringing to life various facets of Islamic heritage through their displays. Khwaja Yasir Qayyum commended the students for their exceptional talent and creativity, emphasising the importance of preserving and promoting Islamic cultural heritage. He offered the chamber’s support in introducing the students’ artistic work and Islamic-inspired creations to broader markets, ensuring their contributions gain well-deserved recognition. President of Anjuman-i-Tajran Sargodha Khawar Nadeem also praised the students’ dedication and innovation in representing Islamic culture. He assured the students that their efforts would not go unnoticed and pledged his association’s assistance in connecting their work with platforms that could help promote their art and ideas commercially.
