DERA GHAZI KHAN: The Ghazi Ghat Bridge, built in the early 1980s, serves as a vital link for inter-provincial transport. Initially adequate for two-way traffic, the bridge now faces severe strain due to the exponential increase in vehicles, particularly heavy trucks transporting fruits and vegetables to Punjab from Balochistan and Sindh. This surge has led to frequent traffic jams, causing delays and frustration for commuters and transporters. There is a growing public demand for a new dual-carriageway bridge to ease the burden on the aging structure. A modern bridge would not only resolve traffic congestion but also ensure safer and more efficient travel for local residents and inter-provincial transporters. Sheikh Amjad, retired controller examination from Dera Ghazi Khan board, has formally appealed to the authorities for an urgent action. He said the new bridge would boost regional economic activity and improve transportation infrastructure. The construction of a dual-carriageway bridge at Ghazi Ghat is no longer a luxury but a necessity.
