KARACHI: The 25th anniversary of The Garage School (TGS), a project by the Safi Benevolent Trust, was celebrated by the school administration, students, and other stakeholders here at a local hotel on Saturday. The event was brought to life by children dressed in various costumes and eagerly preparing to perform on stage. The programme officially began with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Following that, the third and fourth graders took the stage to welcome the audience. Dressed in beautiful traditional attire adorned with ornaments, the children captivated the audience with their charm. Almas Sadiq, co-founder of TGS, came on stage after the beautiful performance, thanking the sponsors, donors, and everyone who had contributed over the years, making the dream of educating the country’s generations come true. There was a delightful performance by kindergarten children, who showcased the importance of bags, especially during school life. During this performance, the children at the back, who were a part of the audience, likely had the steps memorised and performed enthusiastically, which was highly entertaining for the audience. The group received a huge round of applause once the performance ended. School run by a trust celebrates its silver jubilee The alumni of the school also shared their stories, which were truly inspiring and a testament to how hard work can take a person further ahead than talent alone. Ahmed Siraj, Zuleikha, Ahmed Bakhsh, Komal Aziz, Arzoo and Laiba spoke about how the school played a significant role in their upbringing and even their nutrition. Token of appreciation was presented to the donors and sponsors of the event afterwards. In another performance, the children dressed in beautiful long frocks sang We Are the World with their innocent faces reflecting hope and promise. The performance symbolised that children are the future of the world and will drive progress and bring about the necessary changes over time. If nurtured, they will bloom like plants. The event was concluded with remarks from the founder of TGS, Shabeena Mustafa, who emphasised the importance of education, and gave a brief background of how the school was started and progressed over the years.
